Eastern Bazaar

About Eastern Bazaar

Eastern Bazaar started in 2020, when neighbourhood stores were closing their doors and shoppers had moved online. The big platforms were built for brands, not for the grocery on the corner. We set out to give every local and independent store a proper online shop of its own, quickly and without a web team, and to bring those stores together in one place where their neighbours can find them.

Two communities, one bazaar

Store owners open and run their stores: a hosted online shop with payments, a catalogue, vouchers and a page in the bazaar. Each store is its own site, owned by the business, on hosting we keep secure and up to date.

The shopper community uses the bazaar to discover stores nearby, save favourites, collect vouchers and buy directly from each store.

What a store gets

  • Its own online shop on WooCommerce, from a template for its kind of business or designed for its brand.
  • A starting catalogue: grocery stores can pick from a shared catalogue with photos rather than typing products in.
  • A listing in the directory and on the map, with vouchers shoppers redeem online or at the till.
  • Security updates, backups and hosting handled for it.

Businesses that already have a website can simply be listed. And overseas makers who use Boomerang, our returns warehouse service in the United States, can sell their inspected, graded returns from an Eastern Bazaar store, with orders shipped from Boomerang's warehouse.

Where we are

Eastern Bazaar is reopening in 2026 on new foundations. The stores you can browse today are demonstrations of each kind of store, plus vendors who have joined early. If you run a store and want to be part of it, tell us about it.
